ToggleAbout Vuori Clothing
Vuori was founded by Joe Kudla in 2015. Based in Carlsbad, California, the company came to be after he quit his consulting job to create a “Lululemon for men”. A surfing and yoga enthusiast, he wanted to create quality activewear after realizing there was a lack of high-quality pieces in the market.
With the help of friends and family, he successfully raised $700,000, which he used to put his products in fitness centers and yoga studios. However, they barely sold. It wasn’t until he switched to a direct-to-consumer e-commerce model that things started to fly off the shelves.
By the end of 2017, the company had become profitable. Fast forward to today and their products are available in more than 30 retail stores across the United States and the UK.
What Types of Activewear Clothing Does Vuori Sell?
Vuori offers a wide selection of activewear for men and women including tees, sports bras, leggings, joggers, tights, boardshorts, hoodies, and jackets. On top of that, they also offer accessories such as bags, yoga mats, hats, and hair ties.
While prices aren’t cheap per se, you do get what you pay for in terms of quality. Take Vuori leggings, for example, they range between $90 and $100 a pair, which is comparable to Lululemon and other well-known athletic brands.
They also have a sales section where you can get discounted items. Shipping is also free for all orders above $75.
Care Tips for Vuori Clothing
Vuori’s activewear is designed to last many years with proper care. This means washing them after each wear according to the care tag instructions.
The last thing you want to do is keep your dirty clothes in a pile on the floor. Not only will they develop an odor but the sweat can also compromise the fabric over time.

What Fabrics Are Vuori Clothes Made Of?
Most, if not all of their clothes are made from a synthetic fiber blend. Not only are they lightweight but they’re also moisture-wicking, which makes them ideal for working out in.
Here’s an overview of the different materials that they use.
Recycled Polyester
Recycled polyester is made from recycled post-consumer material (e.g. plastic bottles) and is much better for the environment compared to virgin polyester.
Like many synthetic fibers, it’s lightweight, durable, and quick-drying. On top of that, it’s resistant to stains and pulls moisture away from the skin. The only drawback is the lack of breathability.
Elastane
Elastane, aka spandex, is an elastic fiber that adds stretch to clothes. Plus, it’s soft and form-fitting, which makes it ideal for activewear such as leggings and tights.
However, it’s sensitive to heat and tends to trap moisture within the garment. This is one of the reasons why it’s often blended with other fabrics.
Nylon
Nylon is a strong and elastic fiber that’s resistant to abrasion and wrinkles. It’s also fast-drying and easy to wash, like many manmade materials.
However, it’s known for its low breathability and tends to pill over time. It also has poor heat resistance and can degrade if exposed to high temperatures.
How To Wash Vuori Performance Joggers and Leggings
Vuori leggings and joggers are machine washable, or if you want, you can wash them by hand. Here’s how.
Machine Wash Instructions for Vuori Leggings and Joggers
Start by emptying the pockets. Make sure nothing is left inside and turn the pants inside out – that’ll prevent the outer surface from wearing out.
If you’re washing joggers, be sure to tie up the drawstrings so that they won’t get pulled out during the wash cycle.
Next, place the leggings or joggers in a mesh laundry bag.
While it’s not necessary, we highly recommend using one as it’ll offer an additional layer of protection against potential damage.
Just remember to close the zipper before putting the item into the washer otherwise they’ll fall out during the cycle.
Put your other clothes in the tub, ideally in their own mesh bags, and add one scoop of ACTIVE Detergent.
Remember, you don’t want to add too much detergent; that’ll leave behind a soapy layer, which will trap sweat and dirt on the fabric.
Not to mention that the detergent might not be rinsed off completely.
Avoid using fabric conditioners or bleach. The former will leave behind a wax-like residue, which will prevent the leggings/joggers from wicking moisture away from the skin, while the latter can potentially damage the fibers.
Tip: White vinegar is an all-natural alternative to fabric conditioners. Add half a cup to the tub during the last cycle and it will soften your leggings and joggers and remove any smells that are present.
Set the washing machine to a delicate setting once everything is in and run a cycle with cold water. Don’t use hot water as high temperatures can compromise the fabric.
Similarly, you want to avoid using the normal setting on your washer as the tumbling can damage the items., especially if you’re not using laundry bags.
Take your leggings and joggers out of the washing machine once the cycle is done. Don’t leave your wet clothes in the washer as that can lead to unwanted odors developing.
To dry them, put them on a clothesline or drying rack. Do not expose them to the sun’s rays as that can cause the fabric to degrade.
Hand Washing Your Vuori Leggings and Joggers
Hand washing has several advantages over machine washing. Not only is it gentler on the fabrics but you’ll save some money on your electricity bill as well.
First things first, you want to create a bath for your leggings/joggers. To do this, fill a sink or small tub with cold water.
Add one scoop of ACTIVE Detergent powder and swish the water around to help it dissolve. You should get a soapy mixture once everything is mixed.
Empty the pant pockets and turn them inside out to expose the inner layer (where most of the sweat is).
Gently place them in the sink or tub and make sure they’re fully immersed in the detergent solution. Give the leggings/joggers and quick rub to loosen any debris and let them soak in the soapy water for at least 15 minutes.
Tip: Any stains or spots should be spot-treated before washing. Simply wet the area with a sponge and apply a small amount of detergent solution to the spot. Gently rub it in and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing with clean water. Do not scrub at the stain as that’ll cause it to spread.
After soaking, rinse the leggings/joggers with fresh water under the tap. Continue to rinse until all of the soap film is gone. From there, remove the excess water from the fabric by pressing it against the edge of the tub or sink.
Use a clean towel to remove additional moisture from the leggings/joggers and let them hang dry in a well-ventilated area. We don’t recommend using the dryer as the high heat can damage the fibers.
Best Way to Wash Vuori Jackets and Hoodies
Their jackets and hoodies can be put in the washer as long as you use a laundry bag. Or you can wash them by hand. Here’s how.
Throwing Your Vuori Jackets and Hoodies in the Washer
Zip up the jacket or hoodie so that the zipper won’t get caught on your other items and empty the pockets. If there are drawstrings, tie a knot; that’ll prevent them from coming out during the wash.
If you can, turn the jacket or hoodie inside out to protect the outer layer from rubbing against your other garments.
Next, place the item in a large mesh laundry bag.
While you can wash them without a bag, it’s highly recommended as it’ll protect both your washing machine and your other clothes from being damaged.
Once the jacket or hoodie is in the washing machine, you can add the laundry dergent. One scoop of ACTIVE Detergent for normal size loads.
For larger loads you can just add a little more detergent. Do not use fabric softener as it will prevent the jacket or hoodie from pulling moisture away from the skin, which will leave you feeling clammy.
Also, you want to avoid harsh chemicals such as bleach as they can compromise the integrity of the fabric.
Select a gentle wash cycle and run with cold water. Avoid using hot water as high temperatures can damage the fibers in the long run.
Take the jacket or hoodie out immediately once the cycle is finished. You don’t want to leave them inside the washer as the moist environment can harbor contaminants.
Air-dry the jacket or hoodie using a drying rack or clothesline. We don’t recommend that you tumble dry the items.
Hand Washing Your Vuori Jackets and Hoodies
Fill a washbasin or sink with cool water and dissolve one scoop of ACTIVE Detergent. Swish the water with your hands to create a soapy solution.
Empty the pockets of your jacket/hoodie, turn it inside out and place it in the sudsy water. Press down on the item firmly so that it’s completely submerged in the mixture – that way, the detergent will be able to work its magic on the dirt and sweat.
If necessary, you can hand wash the jacket or hoodie with other items. The only requirement is that they must be of similar colors; you don’t want to mix lights with darks as the dyes can bleed.
Note: If the jacket or hoodie is stained, you’ll want to spot-treat the area before washing. Wet the area and rub in a small amount of the detergent mixture.
Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing. Continue until the stain is removed.
Give the jacket/hoodie a quick massage with your hands and leave it to soak in the soapy water for 15 to 20 minutes, longer if it’s excessively dirty. Rinse with clean water afterward.
The goal is to wash away all of the soapy residues; there shouldn’t be able to soap suds left when you’re finished.
Once the water comes out clear, you can take it out of the sink.
Gently press out the excess water and allow the jacket or hoodie to air dry in a well-ventilated area, ideally on a drying rack. Do not put it in the dryer and do not expose it to the sun’s rays.
The Best Laundry Detergent for Vuori Clothing
ACTIVE Detergent is the number one choice for Vuori clothing. The reason is simple; it’s specially formulated for performance clothing.
More specifically, it’s designed for technical, aka synthetic fibers, such as polyester, spandex, and nylon- the same ones that Vuori uses for their activewear.
Formula-wise, it contains three different types of enzymes that allow it to dissolve and break down the sweat, oils, dirt, and other gunk.
It doesn’t contain any harsh chemicals either. In fact, it’s both hypoallergenic and fragrance-free, which makes it a great choice for those with skin sensitivities.
On top of all that, it’s budget-friendly! One bag comes with 48 oz of powder, which is good for upward of 90 loads!
