Wanayou is a company that specializes in professional sportswear. Aside from yoga leggings, they also offer shorts, sports bras, and athletic tops.
More About Wanayou
Wanayou is a small brand that you can only find on Amazon. As far as we can tell, they only started selling earlier this year. Despite that, many of their products have already become bestsellers. Take their sports bras, for example, they’ve received more than 25,000 positive ratings.
A Closer Look At Their Sportswear
Wanayou sells various types of sports bras including racerback, cross back, and zipper fronts bras. They also sell yoga shorts (available in 3 different lengths), long sleeve tops, short sleeves, leggings, and more. And as far as sizing goes, there are four options—from small to extra-large.
Perhaps the greatest thing about them is their pricing. That is, you can easily get something for about $20. This includes their leggings, sports bra, shorts, etc. Some styles will be more expensive than others but generally speaking, they’re a lot cheaper than what you can get in stores.
Taking Care of Wanayou Clothing
Want to make the most of your $20 shorts or leggings? Then be sure to care for them properly. If anything, this means being diligent about doing the laundry. For one thing, you don’t want to leave your dirty clothes lying around in a pile on the floor. Wash them as soon as you can—that way, the fabric won’t get damaged by the sweat and oils.
But be careful how you wash the items. Don’t throw everything into the machine and call it a day. There are certain steps to follow, otherwise, you may very well end up damaging your clothes.
What Fabrics Do They Use For Their Sportswear?
All of their sportswear is made from synthetic fibers such as nylon and polyester. Here’s a quick run-down of the different materials.
Nylon
Nylon is an elastic fiber that’s often used to make apparel. Not only is it tough, but it also resists water. It’s also super lightweight being only 1/7th the weight of conventional materials. The only drawback is that it can melt if exposed to high temperatures. For this reason, you always want to use the cold water setting when washing nylon items.
Spandex
Spandex is even more elastic than nylon—it can stretch up to 500% of its original length. For this reason, it’s often used in apparel such as swimsuits, sportswear, and dance wear. However, it has to be combined with other fibers; it can’t be woven into a fabric by itself. For example, it’s often mixed with polyester or cotton.
Polyester
Polyester is a synthetic fiber that’s resistant to many things including abrasion, wrinkles, and moisture. Not only that, but it’s lightweight, which makes it excellent for sportswear such as jackets, tops, etc. On top of that, it dries very quickly; this makes it very easy to clean.
Wanayou Sports Bras: How Should You Wash Them?
If you can, wash their sports bras by hand. That’ll ensure that they won’t get damaged by the agitator. With that said, you can also use the washer as long as you take the proper precautions.
Option 1 – Putting Your Wanayou Sports Bra In the Washing Machine
Prepare a bath for your sports bras. We recommend using a sink or washbasin—fill it ¾ full with lukewarm water and mix in ½ a scoop of ACTIVE detergent. Swish the water a few times to dissolve the powder. You should be left with a sudsy solution.
Take the pads out of the bras and submerge them in the sink. Do the same thing with the bra itself after turning it inside out (it should be completely covered by soapy water). If necessary, press down on the items with your hands. Remember, nothing will happen if the bra isn’t in contact with the detergent!
Swirl the sports bra a couple of times to loosen any dirt or oils. Let them sit in the sink or washbasin afterward for up to 20 minutes—that will give the detergent time to do its job.
Gently massage the sports bra with your hand once it’s been soaked. From there, rinse it thoroughly with water (make sure that it’s cold so that you’re not damaging the fabric). We recommend holding it under the faucet, however, you can also rinse it in the sink or washbasin after refilling it with water.
Continue to rinse until the bra is free of detergent/soap suds. Press the excess water out of the fabric (do NOT wring or twist) and lay it flat on a clean towel. If necessary, you can use it to remove more water, otherwise, you can just leave it on there to air dry. Another option is to place it on a drying rack. A clothesline works too—just avoid hanging the bra by its straps (they can stretch out due to gravity).
Option 2: Hand Washing Wanayou Sports Bras
When it comes to sports bras, you always want to use a laundry bag. It’ll keep everything together and prevent it from rubbing against your other clothes. Before you put it inside, though, make sure to turn the bra inside out—that’ll protect the outer layer from friction damage. Also, remember to take out the pads. You can place them in the same laundry bag for washing.
Tip: We recommend washing your sports bras with other activewear such as tank tops, shorts, etc. Just sort the colors beforehand. That way, you won’t have to worry about dye transfer.
Close the bag and throw it in the washer. If you’re washing a mixed load, add the rest of your clothes (separate everything with laundry bags, if necessary). Next, add the detergent. Measure one scoopful of ACTIVE detergent and pour it into the dispenser (or directly to the drum). Feel free to use more if you’re washing many items at once.
Choose a gentle wash setting and run a cold water cycle. Avoid using hot water as the heat can compromise the fabric. Press start and allow the washer to run. Wait for it to finish completely before taking out your bras.
For drying, you can either lay it flat to dry or use a laundry rack. You can also hang it up on a clothesline as long as you’re careful with the straps. Never put it in the dryer and never put it directly in the sun.
Wanayou Leggings: Two Ways to Wash Them
Their leggings are 100% machine washable. You can also wash them by hand if you want them to last longer.
Option 1: Machine Washing Wanayou Leggings
Prepare the leggings for washing. Empty the pockets, turn them inside out, and place them in a laundry bag. That’ll keep the outer layer from wearing out during the wash cycle. Once you’ve done that, throw them in the washer.
Put in the rest of your clothes, using laundry bags, if necessary. Next, add one scoopful of ACTIVE detergent (you can use more if your load is XL). Don’t use bleach. The same goes with fabric conditioner—you won’t need any. If anything, it’ll only make your leggings harder to wash clean.
Tip: White vinegar is a great alternative to fabric conditioner. Not only will it soften your leggings, but it has deodorizing properties as well.
Choose a delicate wash cycle and press start. Remember to always use cold water—it’s much gentler on the fabric than hot water. Wait for the washing to come to an end before opening the door and retrieving your leggings. Instead of using the dryer, lay them on a drying rack to air dry. A hanger or a clothesline works too. Just don’t leave it out in the sun.
Option 2: Hand Washing Wanayou Leggings
Prepare a sink or washtub. Fill it with lukewarm water and add ½ a scoop of ACTIVE detergent. You can help the powder dissolve by swishing the water with your hands.
Place your leggings in the sink. Make sure that they’re inside out and that there’s nothing left in the pockets. Swirl them in the soapy solution a few times. Leave them in there to soak for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Rinse the leggings thoroughly with water. Remember to use cold water and not hot water—the latter will damage the material. Continue to rinse until the pants are free of soap suds. This can take a couple of minutes depending on the amount of detergent that’s on the fabric.
Hang the leggings on a clothesline and allow them to air dry naturally. You can also use a drying rack or hanger. Just don’t leave them out in the sun (the ultraviolet rays can bleach the colors). And as always, don’t tumble dry.
Wanayou Shorts: How Should You Wash Them?
You can wash their shorts the same way as their leggings. In fact, you can wash them together—either by machine or by hand.
Option 1: Machine Washing Wanayou Shorts
As with all sportswear, you want to begin by turning the shorts inside out. Place them in a laundry bag and throw them in the machine. Add the rest of your clothes and once everything is in, pour in a scoopful of ACTIVE detergent.
Run a gentle wash cycle. For the best results, use cold water. Allow the shorts to air dry afterward on a clothesline or drying rack. Keep them away from the dryer and direct sunlight.
Option 2: Hand Washing Wanayou Shorts
Fill a washtub with cool water. Create a soapy solution by mixing in 1/2 a scoop of ACTIVE detergent. Swish the water to combine.
Turn the shorts inside out and submerge them in the soapy water. Let them soak for 15 or so minutes before rinsing clean with water. Air dry afterward. Do not put them in the dryer.
