How to Wash Ryderwear Activewear

April 22, 2022

Ryderwear is an Australia-based sportswear brand that blends fitness with fashion. Aside from clothes, they also sell shoes and accessories such as lifting belts, bags, hats, resistant bands, scrunchies, and more.

More About Ryderwear

Ryderwear was founded by the husband and wife team, David and Natalie Lukic in 2009. They had decided to create their own label after noticing a gap in the fitness clothing market.

about ryderwear

Over the past decade, the company has grown from just two employees to 60. Not only that, but they’ve launched their first brick-and-mortar store in Adelaide earlier this year. They’ve also teamed up with retailers in the US and UK to ensure quicker shipping times for their international customer base.

What Kind of Sportswear Do They Sell?

Ryderwear offers a wide range of activewear for men and women. Some of their most popular products include leggings, shorts, sports bras, track pants, and hoodie jackets.

Compared to other brands, their clothes are quite affordable. Take their leggings, for example, you can get a pair for about $60. They also have an outlet section on their site for those who want to snag some deals. The only thing is that you have to pay for shipping. For more details, check out their shipping page.

Taking Care of Ryderwear Activewear

High-performance activewear can be pricey. That’s why it’s so important to clean and care for them properly. That way, you’ll be able to make your investments last.

For one thing, you never want to put them in the dryer. If anything, that’s the easiest way to wear out the fabric. Always air-dry. And don’t procrastinate when it comes to doing the laundry. You want to wash everything as soon as possible after returning home so that the sweat won’t have a chance to compromise the material.

What Fabrics Do They Use For Their Sportswear?

Most, if not all of their activewear is made of technical fibers that are capable of wicking moisture away from the body. Here’s what you need to know about the different fabrics.

Nylon

Nylon has a strong, manmade fiber that has excellent abrasion resistance. It also has great elasticity (ie. it can stretch many times its length without losing its shape). Not only that, but it repels water, which makes it ideal for activewear. However, it can become distorted if exposed to heat.

Spandex

Spandex is one of the stretchiest fabrics available. For this reason, it’s often used in form-fitting garments such as activewear, swimsuits, and dance costumes. Its nature also allows it to be incorporated into other fibers such as cotton, nylon, or polyester. In fact, it’s rarely, if ever, used by itself.

Polyester

Polyester is incredibly strong; it won’t stretch, tear, or pill easily like other fabrics. It’s also lightweight and dries very quickly, which makes it an excellent choice for outerwear. Not to mention that it’s wrinkle-resistant. However, it’s not very breathable. For one thing, it tends to stick to perspiring skin. That’s why it’s often blended with other fabrics, like cotton.

How to Wash Ryderwear Leggings and Yoga Pants

There are a couple of ways that you can wash their yoga pants and legging; you can either throw them in the washing machine with the rest of your clothes or you can wash them by hand.

Protect the fabric by turning the leggings inside out. Place them in a laundry bag and put them in the washer. That way, you won’t have to worry about them snagging on other clothing.

Tip: Wash your leggings separate from coarse fabrics such as denim. Also, avoid items with velcro or zippers—they can snag the fabric, causing tears. And make sure that you wash them with similar colors only; that will prevent color transfer.

Add your other laundry. Once everything is in, add one scoop of ACTIVE detergent (you can adjust the amount based on the size of your load). Skip the fabric softener; it’ll leave a waxy coating on your leggings, making it harder to clean the item. Consider adding a cup of white vinegar instead—it’ll act as a natural softener and deodorant.

Set your washing machine to use cold water. Choose a gentle cycle and let it run.

Remove your leggings from the washer and let them air dry on a drying rack; it should only take a couple of hours. Don’t tumble dry. The heat will cause your leggings to lose their stretch; it can also compromise their shape.

Hand Washing Your Ryderwear Leggings and Yoga Pants

Start by creating a bath. Mix 1/2 a scoop of ACTIVE detergent with cool water in a washbasin or sink. Swish the water to dissolve the powder; you should end up with a bubbly solution.

Tip: Stains should be pretreated before handwashing. Rinse the area with cold water and apply a small amount of detergent. Wait a few minutes so that it’ll set in. Rinse with cool water afterward. Repeat if the stain is still visible, otherwise, you can proceed to hand wash the item.

Turn your leggings inside out and put them in the sink. Swirl them around a few times. Make sure that they’re completely immersed in the detergent solution. Press down on them gently if you need to. From there, let the leggings soak for 20 to 30 minutes.

Get rid of the dirty water and refill the washbasin or sink with clean water. Use it to rinse the leggings. Or if you want, you can rinse them under running water—just hold them under the tap. Continue until all of the soap residue is gone (the water should run clear).

Avoid twisting or wringing motions; that will damage the delicate fibers that make up the item. Gently press the excess water out instead. Once it’s out, place the leggings on a drying rack to dry. Remember, you don’t want to throw them in the dryer. Also, you don’t want to leave them out in the sun—the UV rays can bleach the fabric.

Washing Your Ryder Sports Bras

Sports bras are more delicate than leggings. In other words, you want to be even more careful when you’re washing them.

How to Machine Wash Your Ryder Sports Bras

Turn your sports bra inside out and put it in a mesh bag. Not only will that protect the elastic, but it’ll also prevent it from snagging on other fabrics. Never put it in the washer without using a bag—it can and will get ruined.

Zip up the bag so that it’s completely closed and throw it in the washer. Add the rest of your clothes (you can wash their sports bras with other delicate items such as tank tops and undergarments). Pour in a scoop of ACTIVE detergent and skip the softener.

Next, choose your wash settings. For sports bras (or delicate items in general), you always want to use a gentle cycle; it’s the machine equivalent to hand washing. In other words, your items will last much longer.

Let the machine run. Take your sports bra out once it’s finished washing and let it air-dry on a laundry rack. As with leggings, you don’t want to use the dryer.

Handwashing Your Ryder Sports Bras

Mix 1/2 a scoop of ACTIVE detergent with cool water in a sink. Swish the water to dissolve the powder; that’ll give you a soapy solution. Turn your sports bra inside out (remember to take out any removable pads) and place it in the sink.

Swirl it around a few times in the water and let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes. That will give the soap time to work its magic.

Rinse the bra thoroughly with cool water afterward. Continue until all of the soap residue is gone. You can either rinse it in the sink (after refiling it with fresh water) or under the faucet. Either way, you want to rinse the item until the water runs clear.

Remove the excess water by gently pressing on the bra. Place it on a laundry rack and let it air dry.

Washing Guide For Ryder Shorts

Their shorts can be washed the same way as their leggings. In fact, you can put them in the same load as long as they’re of similar colors (ie. lights with lights, darks with darks).

Machine Washing Your Ryder Shorts

Turn your shorts inside out and put them in a mesh bag. That’ll keep them from getting caught on your other laundry. Close the bag and put it in the washing machine. Add the rest of your clothes.

Add in one scoop of ACTIVE detergent and run a cold wash cycle, ideally on a gentle setting. Allow the shorts to air-dry after washing on a drying rack.

Handwashing Your Ryder Shorts

Mix half a scoop of ACTIVE detergent with cool water in the sink. Wait until the powder’s completely dissolved before putting in your shorts. Remember to turn them inside out before immersing them in the water.

Tip: You can hand wash their shorts with other items as long as you’re not mixing lights with darks.

Let them soak in the detergent solution for up to 20 minutes. Rinse with water afterward. Continue until the water runs clear and there’s no more soap residue.

Let the shorts air dry on a clothesline or drying rack when you’re finished.
