How to Wash Nagnata Clothing

April 12, 2022

Nagnata is a premium fashion and lifestyle brand that’s known for their fashion-forward apparel. Aside from activewear, they also sell knitwear, which is what they became known for in the first place.

More About Nagnata

Nagnata was founded by fashion designer, Laura May, in 2017. She was later joined by her sister, Hannah, who works as a photographer and textile artist. Since then, the sister duo has come up with several contemporary fashion lines, most of which feature sustainable designs. If anything, that’s what they’re known for today.

In addition to their website, you can find their products at various retailers such as The Cool Hour, Lyst, Shop Style, and Lane Crawford.

What Kind of Activewear Do They Sell?

Nagnata offers a wide range of activewear for women including tees, tanks, shorts, leggings, and bras. They also have a ‘genderless’ collection that consists of sweaters, tees, and track pants.

The only thing is that their prices tend to be on the high end. Take their sweaters, for example, it depends on what you get but most will cost more than $300. And don’t forget, there’s also shipping that you have to pay for ($45 AUD or $34USD for DHL Express International).

Taking Care of Nagnata Activewear

Activewear should be washed after every use. Never let sweat-soaked clothes dry. Not only will they smell, but they’ll be covered in bacteria and dirt. At the very least, you want to air them out before throwing them in a hamper—that’ll help prevent mildew.

Also, there are certain things that you want to consider when you’re washing your workout gear. For one thing, they can’t tolerate hot washes; the heat will cause the fabric to deteriorate. For more tips, read the rest of the post!

What Materials Do They Use For Their Clothes?

The way you wash an item depends on the fabric. Here’s what you need to know about the ones that they use.

Polyester is a strong manmade fiber that resists breakage. It’s also smooth, lightweight, and easy to care for. However, it does not breathe very well. It’s also sensitive to heat in that it will melt if exposed to high temperatures. For this reason, it’s sometimes combined with cotton.

Elastane is a lightweight fiber that’s used to make stretchable garments such as swimsuits, bras, and other sportswear. It’s also strong, durable, and comfortable to wear. Like most technical fabrics, however, it tends to stick to the body. If anything, that’s one of the reasons why it’s often blended with other fibers such as nylon or polyester.

Merino Wool

Merino wool is soft and provides excellent insulation. Not only that, but it has anti-static properties. You won’t have to worry about it smelling either as it’s odor-resistant. However, it can be quite expensive. It’s also not as durable as synthetic fabrics.

Nylon is a petroleum-based fiber that’s known for its durability. It’s also flexible and can stretch over 30% of its length while retaining its original shape. However, it does have some drawbacks. For one thing, it’s prone to shrinking. It can also melt or warp if exposed to heat.

Knowing How to Wash Nagnata Leggings

Throwing Your Nagnata Leggings Into the Washer

As with most clothes, you want to start by turning the leggings inside out—there shouldn’t be anything left in the pockets. Next, put them in a mesh bag; that’ll act as a barrier so that they’ll be protected from the rest of your laundry.

Zip it up and throw it in the washer. Put in the rest of your clothes if you’re washing a mixed load and add one scoop of ACTIVE detergent (feel free to adjust the amount based on your load size).

Tip: Don’t use fabric softener on your leggings. It’ll leave a waxy substance on top, making them harder to clean. You can use white vinegar instead—just add one cup during the final rinse cycle.

Choose your settings once everything is in. For leggings, and sportswear in general, it’s best to use a delicate cycle. Avoid hot water as the heat can compromise the technical fibers.

Run the washing machine and let it run. Take your leggings out once it’s finished and hang them up to dry. For example, you can put them on a laundry rack or a hanger. Don’t tumble dry. The fabrics aren’t made to withstand the heat.

Washing Your Nagnata Leggings By Hand

In a sink, mix half a scoop of ACTIVE detergent with cold water. Agitate it with your hands to dissolve the powder.

Place your leggings in the sudsy solution once the powder has dissolved (remember to empty the pockets and turn them inside out). Press down on them gently so that they’re fully immersed in the water. Let them sit for about 30 minutes or so.

Get rid of the dirty water. Refill the sink with clean water and use it to rinse the leggings thoroughly. The goal is to remove all of the soap residues. If you want, you can also hold them under running water—that works too. Continue until there are no more soap bubbles and the water runs clear.

Don’t twist your leggings to get the excess water out. Squeeze the fabric gently instead. Once you’ve done that, place them on a clothesline and let them air dry. A laundry rack works too. Avoid the dryer, if you can as it can compromise the shape of the leggings.

The Best Ways to Wash Nagnata Sports Bras

Sports bras are more delicate than leggings, which is why you want to take a few extra precautions.

Machine Washing Your Nagnata Sports Bras

Prepare your sports bra. Take out any removable pads and turn the whole thing inside out—that’ll keep the outer layer looking new. Don’t put it directly in the machine, though. Always use a laundry bag; it’ll protect the elastic so that it won’t wear out during the cycle.

Double-check that the bag is closed and throw it in the washing machine. Add the rest of your dirty laundry (you can wash sports bras with other delicate items as long as you’ve separated the colors). Once all the clothes are in, pour in one scoop of ACTIVE detergent. That’s all you need; do not use bleach or softeners.

Choose the gentlest setting on your machine and run a cold water cycle. Don’t use hot water; it can cause the elastic fibers to deteriorate.

Press start. Wait for the washer to finish running before taking out your sports bra. Don’t use the dryer. Place it on a rack instead so that it can air dry. A hanger works too. Just don’t put it under direct sunlight.

Handwashing Your Nagnata Sports Bras

In a washtub or sink, mix half a scoop of ACTIVE detergent with cold water. Wait for the powder to dissolve before putting in your sports bra. Remember to take out any removable pads—they should be washed separately.

Tip: You can handwash their sports bras with other similar-color items such as tank tops, tees, etc.

Swirl the bra a few times in the solution with your hands; that’ll help work in the soap suds. Let it sit for up to 30 minutes afterward.

Rinse the sports bra thoroughly with cold water once the time is up. There are a couple of ways that you can do this; you can either hold the bra under running water (easiest) or rinse it in the sink (after removing the dirty water). Continue until you’ve washed off all of the soap residues; the water should run clear when you’re done.

Don’t twist your sports bra. Gently press the excess water out instead. From there, you can let it air dry. Once again, never use the dryer for sports bras. Also, don’t expose them to sunlight. Rather, let them dry in a well-ventilated room.

Washing Nagnata Shorts Properly

You can wash their shorts the same way as their leggings. In fact, you can even put them in the same load if you’re using the machine!

Using the Washer For Your Nagnata Shorts

Turn your shorts inside out and put them in a mesh bag (you can put them directly in the machine but they’ll wear out faster). Zip it up and throw it in the washer. Do the same for the rest of your laundry.

Add one scoop of ACTIVE detergent and start a cold wash cycle. Try to use the delicate setting if you can—it’ll be gentler on your shorts. Avoid bleach and fabric conditioner.

Take your shorts out of the machine once it’s finished running. Don’t wait too long, otherwise, they can develop an odor (moist environments breed bacteria).

Let them air dry in a well-ventilated area on a drying rack or clothesline. Avoid the dryer if you can.

Washing Your Nagnata Shorts By Hand

Turn on the tap and fill a sink with cold water. Add 1/2 a scoop of ACTIVE detergent to create a bath. If necessary, you can swish the water with your hands; that’ll help the powder dissolve.

active give

Place your shorts in the sink once the soap and water are thoroughly mixed. Let them soak in the detergent for about 20 minutes. From there, rinse the item thoroughly with cold water; make sure to wash off all of the soap suds.

Avoid twisting or wringing the fabric. You can remove the excess water by gently pressing on the shorts instead. Once you’ve done that, allow them to air dry.
