For the best results, use ACTIVE Detergent – it’s specially formulated for synthetic fibers, including those used in Arcteryx clothing. Add one scoop to the washer and run a delicate cycle with cold water. Transfer to the dryer afterwards and tumble dry on low.

Putting Arcteryx Down Jackets in the Washing Machine

For their technical down products, it’s best to use a gentle detergent. We recommend ACTIVE for a thorough yet gentle clean.

Step 1: Prepare the Jacket

Make sure the pockets are empty and close all zippers. Velcro attachments should also be closed before washing.

Step 2: Use a Laundry Bag

Place the down jacket in a large laundry bag, making sure it’s closed properly, and put it in the washer.

Step 3: Add ACTIVE Detergent

Add one scoop of ACTIVE Detergent. Do not add any bleach or fabric softener.

Step 4: Transfer to the Dryer

Washing Arcteryx Cerium/Thorium Down Jackets by Hand

You can also hand wash them if you want to be extra gentle or don’t have a washing machine large enough to fit them.

Step 1:

Make sure the pockets are empty and close all zippers and velcro attachments.

Step 2:

Fill a sink or tub with water and add some ACTIVE Detergent to create a soapy solution.

Step 3:

Place the down jacket in the detergent solution.

Make sure the down jacket is fully submerged in the water, then gently work the detergent into the fabric. Let it soak for 20-30 minutes.

Step 4:

Rinse the jacket under running water until there are no more soap suds.

Step 5:

Gently squeeze out the excess water and transfer it to the dryer. Be careful as the wet jacket will be heavy.

Add a few dryer balls and tumble dry on low heat.

How to Wash Arcteryx Beta/Alpha Jackets

Arc’teryx Beta jackets are all-purpose shells for outdoor activities, while Alpha jackets are designed for climbing and alpine adventures.

Machine Washing Beta/Alpha Jackets

Both Beta and Alpha jackets are machine washable, though you have to be mindful of their DWR coating.

Supplies:

• ACTIVE Detergent
• Laundry bag
• Dryer balls

Step 1:

Make sure the pockets are empty. Close all zippers and velcro attachments.

Step 2:

Place the Beta/Alpha jacket in a large laundry bag and add it to the washer.

Step 3:

Add one scoop of ACTIVE Detergent. Skip the fabric softener!

Step 4:

Run a gentle cycle using cold water.

Step 5:

Hand Washing Beta/Alpha Jackets

You can also wash your Beta/Alpha jacket by hand in a large sink or tub.

Supplies:

• Dryer balls

Step 1:

Fill a large sink or tub with water, then mix in some ACTIVE Detergent until it’s nice and soapy.

Step 2:

Make sure the pockets are empty and place the jacket in the soapy solution.

Gently work in the detergent with your hands, then let it soak for 20-30 minutes.

Step 3:

Rinse the jacket under running water. Continue until there are no more soap suds.

Step 4:

Transfer the jacket to a dryer and tumble dry on low with a few dryer balls.

How to Reapply DWR Treatment

If your garment has GORE-TEX, you may need to reapply a durable water repellent (DWR) treatment to maintain its water resistance.

Supplies:

• DWR Treatment
• Spray bottle with water

Step 1:

Spray a little water onto the fabric to see if it still repels moisture.

If the water beads up and rolls off, the coating is working. If it soaks into the fabric, it’s time to reapply DWR treatment.

Step 2:

Wash the item. You want to remove any dirt, oils, or detergent residue that can affect the DWR treatment.

Step 3:

While the item is still damp, spray a DWR product evenly over the outer fabric, following the product’s instructions.

Step 4:

Let the garment dry. Hang it in a well-ventilated area and let it dry for 12 to 24 hours.

Once dry, tumble dry on low for 10 to 20 minutes. The heat will help activate the DWR treatment.

Washing Arc’teryx Atom Jackets

Their Atom jackets are machine washable, and you can wash them with other similar garments in the same load.

Supplies:

• Drying rack

Step 1:

Turn the jacket inside out, place it in a laundry bag, and add it to the washer.

Step 2:

Add one scoop of ACTIVE Detergent.

Avoid fabric conditioners, as they can leave a coating on the fabric that prevents it from pulling sweat away from the skin.

Step 3:

Run a gentle wash cycle with cold water.

Step 4:
