How to Wash Lemedy Activewear

May 25, 2022

Lemedy is a sportswear brand that you can find on Amazon. They sell various types of gear for women including sports bras, tank tops, leggings, and more.

More About Lemedy Sports

Like most Amazon brands, not much is known about the company. As far as we can tell, however, they started selling their products in 2020. And in a year’s time, they’ve managed to become one of the best-sellers in the activewear section.

It’s also worth mentioning that their products aren’t available anywhere else—only on Amazon.

What Kind of Activewear Do They Sell?

Lemedy Sports is perhaps best known for their padded sports bras, which are available in various colors from black to pink. They also offer padded tank tops, workout shorts, yoga pants, and leggings.

Price-wise, their products are extremely affordable, especially when compared to brand-name items. For example, you can get a sports bra for under $20. Their leggings and tank tops have similar prices as well. And don’t forget, shipping is also free if you’re a Prime member.

Taking Care of Lemedy Activewear

Their products are decent for their price. They might not be super high-quality, but they’ll last you many workout sessions, especially if you take good care of them. In other words, don’t procrastinate when it comes to washing your laundry. You don’t want to let your sweat sit on the fabric for too long, otherwise, it can break down the fibers and that can shorten its lifespan.

Need some tips? Looking for a guide on how to wash Lemedy sportswear? Then you’re at the right place. We’ll be going over how to wash their items in detail below so be sure to read until the end!

What Materials Do They Use For Their Sportswear?

Like most activewear brands, Lemedy uses technical aka synthetic fibers for their products. Here are the ones that they use.

Nylon

Nylon is strong, long-lasting, and easy to wash. For one thing, it has excellent abrasion resistance; this makes it ideal for most sportswear. Not only that, but it also has great elastic recovery. That is, it won’t lose its shape even if stretched to its limits. However, it should never be exposed to heat. While it won’t ignite per se, it can melt and that’ll ruin the shape of the item.

Spandex

Spandex is strong, lightweight, and resistant to pilling. And similar to nylon, it has excellent elasticity. If anything, that’s what it’s known for; it can be stretched more than 500% without snapping. For this reason, it’s often used in leotards, swimsuits, sports bras, and other form-fitting apparel. However, it can be very slippery. To avoid that, it’s rarely used by itself. Rather, it’s blended with other fibers like natural cotton.

Polyester

Polyester is strong, durable, and inexpensive, which is why it’s commonly used in activewear. While it might not be very breathable, it has moisture-wicking abilities that allow it to pull sweat from the skin. Not only that, but it’s also moisture-resistant; this makes it suitable for jackets and other outerwear. However, it tends to hold odors and is prone to static build-up.

A Washing Guide For Lemedy Sports Bras

It’s perfectly fine to put your sports bra in the washing machine; you just have to take the proper precautions. When in doubt, check the care tag label on the item—it should tell you what you can and can’t do with it.

Throwing Your Lemedy Sports Bra In the Washing Machine

The pads are removable so be sure to take them out before washing. That way, they won’t lose their shape; just reposition them after drying. And if you can, hand wash the pads separately—that’ll make them last longer.

Once the pads are out, turn the sports bra inside out and place it in a lingerie bag. That’ll prevent it from catching on the rest of your laundry; it’ll also prevent the fibers from stretching out during the cycle. Never machine wash a sports bra without a lingerie bag; it will get damaged.

Tip: You can wash Lemedy sports bras with other workout gear such as tank tops, shorts, leggings, etc. The only thing is that you have to be careful of the colors; you must separate the darks from lights, otherwise, you might end up with dye transfer. And don’t wash your bras with jeans or anything with zippers—they can easily snag on the fabric.

Double check that you’ve closed the lingerie bag and throw in the washer. Add one scoop of ACTIVE detergent (more for those who are washing an XL load). Don’t use any fabric conditioner. It’ll leave a slippery coating on your sports bras, which will trap dirt and sweat in the fabric. Use white vinegar instead; one cup during the final rinse cycle will do. Not only will it soften your bras, but it’ll work as a natural deodorant as well.

Once you’ve done all that, select your wash settings. We highly recommend using a delicate cycle with cold water. It’ll be gentler on your sports bras so that they’ll last longer. And don’t use hot water. Remember, you don’t want to expose these fabrics to heat—it can compromise the item’s shape.

Press start and let the washer run. Wait until it’s completely finished before opening the door and retrieving your clothes. Instead of using the dryer, let your workout bras air dry on a drying rack (recommended) or clothesline. However, avoid direct sunlight exposure; it can damage the fibers, just like the dryer.

Hand Washing Your Lemedy Sports Bra

All you need is a sink or washtub, either works as long as it’s big enough for your bra. Fill it ¾ full with cold (not hot) water and mix in half a scoop of ACTIVE detergent. The powder should dissolve after a few swishes with your hand.

Take the removable pads out and place them in the sink separately. Turn the bra inside out and submerge it so that it’s completely covered by the soapy water. Give it a few swirls in the sink and let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes—that’ll allow the soap to penetrate into the fibers.

Turn on the tap and hold the sports bra under the faucet; continue to rinse until the water runs clear. There shouldn’t be any soap residue or bubbles left when you’re finished. If you want, you can also rinse the item in the sink, however, that’ll require that you drain and refill it with fresh water.

Place the workout bra on a drying rack after washing and allow it to air dry. For the best results, leave it in a well-ventilated area indoors. Don’t expose it to sunlight and don’t put it in the dryer.

Washing Lemedy Leggings the Right Way

Their leggings can be put in the washer (with the rest of your activewear) or washed by hand.

Machine Washing Your Lemedy Leggings

Turn your leggings/yoga pants inside out. If there are pockets (and most of them do), make sure to empty them. Protect the outside of the leggings by placing them in a garment bag. It’ll serve as a protective layer between the items and whatever else is in the washer. The last thing that you want is for them to rub against each other.

Go ahead and place the sealed bag in the washing machine. Add the rest of your laundry, making sure that you’re not mixing opposite colors. Set your washer to cold water to avoid shrinkage (cotton tends to shrink with heat). Next, add the soap. We recommend one scoop of ACTIVE detergent. Don’t add too much, otherwise, there will be too many suds to deal with, which can lead to problems.

Pro-tip: Do not use fabric softeners! They’ll coat your pants with a waxy layer that’ll be hard to get off. Use 1/4 to 1 cup of white vinegar instead—it’s a great DIY fabric conditioner. It’ll also help remove odors, which is a plus.

Set your wash cycle to delicate. Don’t use a regular cycle—it’ll be too rough on your leggings. You want minimal agitation so that your clothes won’t be damaged during the wash cycle. Press the start button and let the washing machine run.

Remove your laundry as soon as the wash cycle ends. Let them air dry on a rack or hanger. Never tumble dry.

Hand Washing Your Lemedy Leggings

You can hand wash your leggings in a sink or washtub. Start by plugging the drain. Fill it with warm water so that it’s about 3/4 full. Next, add half a scoop of ACTIVE detergent (you can up the amount to one scoop if you’re washing multiple pairs at once). Wait for the detergent to dissolve before putting your pants in the sink or tub. Remember, the pockets should be empty.

Gently agitate the item with your hands to work in the ACTIVE detergent. Once you’re done with that, let it soak for about 15 to 20 minutes. Move it through the water periodically. Afterward, rinse with clean water for several minutes. You may need to press out some of the detergent from the fabric.

Take your leggings out once they’re free from soap suds. Gently squeeze out the excess water before blotting with a clean towel. Hang dry inside in a well-ventilated area; do not expose the bottoms to direct sunlight.

Best Detergent for Lemedy Activewear

When it comes to Lemedy activewear, regular detergents won’t cut it; you’ll need something stronger and more specialized. That’s where ACTIVE detergent comes in—it checks all of the boxes. Made from all-natural ingredients, it doesn’t contain any fillers, fragrances, or chemicals such as phosphates. A concentrated blend, it comes with more than one type of enzyme, which allows it to eliminate sweat and other substances that may be trapped in the garment. That way, your clothes will come out clean and fresh. You don’t need to use a lot either so one pack will last you many laundry sessions.
