How to Wash Yogipace Leggings

April 8, 2019

Yogipace is a relatively new company that specializes in activewear for tall and short women. They offer a variety of apparel including leggings, skirts, shorts, capris, pants, and more. While their items are geared toward yoga enthusiasts, they can be worn for almost any type of sport!

More About Yogipace

The brand was founded by Rachel. She had decided to start her own activewear company after realizing that her best friend, a yogi who has a petite figure, always has trouble finding proper fitting workout clothes.

Their goal is to make everyone—both tall and short—look and feel fabulous. Not only do they have an official website, from which you can make purchases, but they also have a popular Amazon store as well. You’ll be happy to know that they do ship worldwide.

A Closer Look at Yogipace Activewear

Yogipace is mainly geared towards yoga enthusiasts. However, that’s not to say that their apparel can’t be worn for other sports. Aside from leggings (which are the most popular), they also sell high waisted pants, bike shorts, golf shorts, and more. Be sure to check their catalog for the entire selection!

Cost is definitely one of their selling points. Compared to other activewear brands, their products are noticeably cheaper. Take, for instance, their workout leggings, which go for $25. A similar product would easily go for several times that amount at the mall. Their tennis skorts are even cheaper at just $9.99!

If you buy from their Amazon store, you even get free two-day shipping (assuming that you’re a Prime member)!

Taking Care of Yogipace Leggings and Activewear

Yogipace activewear is not flimsy by any means. However, the fabric can still wear out; piling will happen over time. While we can’t prevent our clothes from wearing out, we can extend their life. How? By washing them properly. In other words, don’t just toss in into the machine and hope for the best. There are certain things that you should and shouldn’t do with activewear.

By following the proper washing instructions, you’ll be able to get your money’s worth out of your clothes. Not sure if you’re doing it correctly? No worries, we’ll be going over exactly how to wash their activewear.

Before that, though, let’s go on a small tangent and talk about the fabrics used by Yogipace. After all, the fabric dictates the washing instructions!

Fabrics Used by Yogipace

As you’d expect from an activewear brand, most of the products that they sell are made from technical fibers. In other words, they have certain properties that make them well-suited for workouts and exercise.

Nylon

Nylon is a man-made fiber that is known for its smoothness and strength. Super lightweight, it’s used in many different types of clothing, including activewear. Not only does it dry quickly, but it retains its shape well. On top of all that, it is moisture-wicking, which means that it pulls perspiration directly from the skin.

Yogipace uses nylon for their yoga pants, leggings, capris, and shorts.

Spandex

Spandex is often added to activewear to make it more stretchy. It also increases the stability of the fabric. Did you know that it is able to stretch 5 to 8 times its length?

Yogipace uses spandex in most of their athletic clothing.

Elastane

Similar to spandex, elastane is often blended with other fabrics. It is also known by the trade name, Lycra.

Yogipace uses elastane in their shorts, pants, capris, and skorts.

Polyester

Polyester is widely used for athletic clothing due to its durability and low cost. Sweat-wicking, it pulls moisture from the skin to the surface for evaporation. In addition to that, it is easily washed and dries quickly. It is also resistant to wrinkles, abrasion, shrinking and stretching.

Yogi pace uses polyester for their leggings, yoga pants, shorts, skirts, and skorts.

Washing Instructions for Yogipace Leggings

Leggings can get quite dirty after a workout. From sweat to dirt, there are a number of things that can get onto the fabric. Luckily, they’re quite easy to wash.

Washing Yogipace Leggings Using the Washing Machine

You’ll be happy to know that their leggings are machine washable. Start by flipping each pair inside out. This will prevent the outer surface from rubbing against your other clothes; it’s also a good way to prevent the colors from fading. Feel free to put them in a mesh laundry bag—that will add another layer of protection.

Note: It’s perfectly fine to wash your Yogipace leggings with other items. Just make sure that you’re not mixing light colored garments with dark colored ones. Otherwise, you risk color bleeding. Also, you might want to separate them from “coarse” items such as denim jackets and jeans.

Prepare the washing machine by adding a scoop of ACTIVE detergent. Place the leggings inside. Wash the load on a delicate cycle with cold water. Avoid hot water, if possible—not only will that damage the fabric, but it will add to your power bill! Try not to use fabric softeners; they can ruin the sweat-wicking finish.

Pro-tip: White vinegar works great if you’re looking for something to soften your leggings with. Simply add a cup to the washer and voila!

Take the leggings out of the machine after the wash cycle’s finished. The best way to dry them is to hang them on a clothesline; you can also put them on a drying rack. Never toss them in the dryer. The high heat will cause your leggings to wear out super fast; it’s also bad for the elastic.

Washing Yogipace Leggings by Hand

Want to know the secret for long lasting leggings? To hand wash them! Sure, they might be machine washable, but washing them by hand is much gentler for the fabric. It’s not difficult either!

Start by mixing together a scoop of ACTIVE detergent with water in the sink (you can also use the tub or a container). Put your legging in once the solution is thoroughly mixed. Make sure that every part of it is submerged in the liquid. Let it “marinate” for at least 30 minutes.

Pro-tip: Is there a stain? You can remove it by applying ACTIVE detergent onto the spot. Let it soak through the area before immersing the entire pair of leggings in the sink. This method can also be used before putting your garments in the washing machine.

The leggings are ready to be washed once they’ve been soaked! Pick each pair up from the detergent-water and wash. One of the best ways to do this is to gently rub the fabric against itself. Drain away the dirty water when you’re done and fill it with clean water. Use it to rinse away the soap suds. You can also rinse the leggings under the faucet—continue until the water is clear. You might have to repeat the steps a few times.

Lay the leggings on a clean surface when you’re done rinsing. If you want, you can use a towel to remove some of the extra water. Otherwise, just hang it up on a clothesline and wait for it to dry. Remember not to twist it like a dishcloth—that will damage the fabric like no tomorrow!

How to Safely Clean Yogipace Skirts and Skorts

As we mentioned earlier, they also sell a variety of skirts and skorts. How do you go about washing these? Let’s have a look.

Putting Yogipace Skirts and Skorts in the Washing Machine

Their skirts and shorts are also machine washable. You want to be careful, though—some of them come with a mesh lining that can be considered delicate. To prevent them from getting snagged, it’s a good idea to put them in their own laundry bag. Avoid washing the leggings with denim items such as jeans; jackets, hoodies—basically anything with hardware, should also be put in a separate load.

Note: As always, you want to sort your laundry by color. Do not wash dark colored skirts and skorts with light colored garments.

Load the items in and add one scoop of ACTIVE detergent to the machine. Close the door and wash everything on a delicate setting. Always use cold water—that will ensure the longevity of your skirts and skorts. Skip the fabric softener; it can minimize the items’ moisture-wicking effects. White vinegar can be used instead to soften your clothes, if necessary.

Wait for the cycle to finish before taking your skirts and skorts out. Let them air dry on a clothesline. Do not put them in the dryer, otherwise, the fabric will deteriorate quickly.

Hang Washing Yogipace Skirts and Skorts

Skirts and skorts are compact and easy to wash in the sink (a container or bucket works too). Begin by filling it three-quarters full with cool water. Add a scoop of ACTIVE detergent. Mix the solution thoroughly with your hands until soap suds are visible. Immerse the items fully in the sink. Allow them to sit in the mixture for at least 30 minutes—this will “pretreat” the skirts and skorts.

After soaking, they’re ready to be washed. Pick each piece up from the sink and wash by rubbing the fabric between your fingers. You can also swirl them in the solution. Drain away the soapy water when you’re finished. Fill the sink with clean water; use it to rinse off the detergent. Afterward, lay them flat on a clean surface such as a towel. Do not wring the skirts and skorts like a dishcloth. Excess water can be removed by gently pressing down with the towel.

Hang the items up on a clothesline and wait for them to air dry; a drying rack is a great alternative. Never put them in the dryer for the same reasons mentioned earlier.

Best Laundry Detergent for Yogipace Leggings and Activewear

Detergents are not made equal. It’s probably not the best idea to use a regular detergent with activewear, as they’re made from different types of clothing fibers.

why you should use active detergent 1

Instead, you want to use something that’s designed for athletic clothing. Why not use ACTIVE detergent? It’s one of the best products that you can use to clean activewear. Unlike conventional detergents, it contains special enzymes that will dissolve all of the gunk (e.g. bacteria, sweat, oils) deep within the fibers. That way, there will be no doubt as to whether or not your clothes are fresh and clean.

Not only is ACTIVE detergent specially formulated for this type of clothing, but it’s also great for sensitive skin. Plant-based, it does not contain any harsh chemicals. There are no fragrances nor fillers, which makes it a great hypoallergenic product. Did we also mention that one bag will last you 90 loads?
