June 29, 2023

NVGTN is a fitness and lifestyle apparel brand with customers in more than 170 countries worldwide. While they specialize in clothing, they also offer accessories such as socks and booty bands.

More About NVGTN Activewear

NVGTN was founded by Brett and Ashleigh Scheneggenburger in 2018. Their goal was simple—to create affordable yet form-flattering activewear suitable for everyone.

The company, which was initially based out of a studio apartment, has grown tremendously since then. Just last year, it was announced that the online retailer would be investing $15 million to build a 100,000-square-foot facility in Pasco County.

They also have 53,000 square feet of warehousing and corporate space. If anything, they’ve become one of the fastest-growing apparel brands in the U.S.

NVGTN – What Clothes Do They Sell?

NVGTN is best known for its seamless leggings, which are available in various colors from black to hot pink. Prices are reasonable as well at around $50 a pair.

They also have different collections to choose from including Curve, Scrunch, and Camo, all of which are slightly different in terms of style. It’s worth noting, however, that they’re all high-waisted with a compressive elastic waistband.

A variety of sizes are available from XS to XL.

Shipping across the U.S. is free on all orders above $75, as are exchanges.

Taking Care of Your NVGTN Leggings So That They Last Longer

how to wash nvgtn leggingsIt’s highly recommended that you wash your NVGTN leggings with cold water after each wear. That’ll prevent the sweat and oils from staining the fabric.

Remember, the last thing that you want is to leave your sweaty gym clothes in a bag or a pile on the floor.

It’s also important to follow the care instructions on the product label. For example, it’s not uncommon for leggings and other activewear to fray or pill prematurely if exposed to high heat.

What Fabrics Are NVGTN Leggings Made Of?

Different fabrics have different requirements when it comes to washing. For NVGTN leggings (and activewear in general), synthetic aka manmade fibers are typically the fiber of choice as they have many advantages over natural fibers.

More specifically, there are three main types of materials that they use: nylon, polyester, and spandex, here’s what you need to know about them.

Nylon is a synthetic material that’s derived from plastic. Not only is it stretchy but it’s also highly durable. For one thing, it’s resistant to moisture. It also has amazing abrasion resistance, which prevents it from pilling and wearing out.

On top of all that, it resists wrinkles and shrinkage. However, it can warp or shrink if exposed to heat. It’s also sensitive to light and can fade if exposed to the sun’s rays.

Polyester is great in that it’s strong, lightweight, and inexpensive to produce. It’s also quick-drying, and resistant to moisture, which makes it ideal for workout clothes.

However, it does have a few drawbacks. For starters, it’s not very breathable. It’s also prone to static electricity, which means it can pick up dust and other debris easily.

Spandex is soft, lightweight, and absorbent. It’s also known for its elasticity, which is why it’s often used in leggings, swimwear, and other formfitting apparel.

Similar to polyester, however, it lacks breathability and is prone to trapping moisture and sweat. On top of that, it can also retain odors. To counter these cons, spandex is often woven with other materials.

How to Remove Stains From NVGTN Leggings

As a general rule, you want to spot-treat your leggings before washing them if they are stained.

Depending on how set in the stain is, it may not come clean otherwise, even with laundry detergent. Not to mention that it can cause the stain to spread to other areas of the garment, which will worsen the initial problem.

Spot Treating Your NVGTN Leggings Before Washing

In a small bowl, dissolve a small amount of ACTIVE Detergent in water. Set it aside. Wet the stained area with water and rub a small amount of the detergent mixture into the stain with your finger.

Using an old toothbrush, gently work the detergent into the stain. Be careful not to scrub the area too hard as that can damage the fabric. On top of that, it can also spread the stain to other areas.

Tip: Do not use hot water when spot-treating leggings; the high temperature can set in the stain, which will make it more difficult to remove.

Hold the stained area under the tap and rinse the spot with cold water afterward. Check the stain after rinsing. If the spot is gone, you can proceed to wash the item. Otherwise, you may have to repeat the above steps.

How to Wash NVGTN Leggings

NVGTN leggings are 100% machine washable. Like all clothes, however,  they can wear out over time due to the machine’s tumbling action.

For those who want to prevent that, there’s the option of handwashing the bottoms. We’ll be going over how to do both in detail below.

Washing Machine Instructions for NVGTN Leggings

washing instructions for nvgtn leggingsBefore you put the leggings in the washer, turn them inside out; the inner layer should be facing out. Don’t forget to empty the pockets as well.

While you can put the leggings in the washing machine as-is, we highly recommend that you use a mesh laundry bag. It’ll keep the leggings separate from your other clothes and prevent them from rubbing against each other. We also recommend using a mesh bag for your other garments.

Note: You can wash NVGTN leggings with other workout clothes such as tees, tank tops, shorts, tights, and joggers as long as you sort the colors (wash with like colors). Avoid mixing dark and light clothes as the dyes can bleed.

Make sure to close the zipper before putting the laundry bags in the washing machine. Next, add the laundry detergent. For NVGTN leggings, use one scoop of ACTIVE Detergent.

Add the powder directly to the basin. Do not mix in bleach or use fabric softeners. The former causes damage to the technical fibers while the latter will coat the leggings (and the rest of your clothes) with a waxy substance, which will hinder its ability to pull moisture away from the skin.

If odor is an issue, measure and add half a cup of white distilled vinegar to the washer during the final rinse cycle. It’ll neutralize smells and help soften the fabric without the use of any chemicals.

Once everything is in the washing machine, run a delicate wash cycle. Always use cold water; high temperatures can cause the fabrics to degrade over time.

Let the washer run and take the leggings out as soon as the cycle is finished. Don’t leave your leggings (and other laundry) in the machine for longer than necessary as the moist environment can lead to unwanted odors.

Do not use the dryer for NVGTN leggings. Hang dry them instead, ideally in a well-ventilated space, away from direct sunlight.

How to Clean NVGTN Leggings – Hand Washing Method

Start by emptying the pockets. Next, turn the bottoms inside out. As always, you want the inner layer to face outward; that will expose the oils and sweat to the detergent.

Set the leggings aside while you prepare a bath. For this step, you can use a sink or a washtub. Fill it with cool water (remember, you don’t want to expose your clothes to high temperatures) and mix in a scoop of ACTIVE Detergent.

To help the powder dissolve, agitate the water a few times with your hands. Alternatively, you can add the detergent before adding the water; the latter will help dissolve the powder.

If necessary, you can also add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the detergent mixture. It’ll soften the fabric and help get rid of any smells.

Once the bath is ready, place your leggings (and other clothes, if you’re washing them with other garments) in the detergent mixture. The key is to fully submerge the items; that will let the detergent work its magic on the sweat and oils within the fibers.

Gently massage the fabric with your fingers to loosen any debris. From there, walk away and let your leggings (and other items) sit in the soapy water for at least 15 minutes. Feel free to soak them for longer if you feel that they’re necessary.

Turn on the tap and rinse the leggings with fresh, clean water. Continue to rinse until the soap film is gone and there are no more soap suds left on the fabric. If you want, you can also rinse the items by refilling the sink or washtub with fresh water.

When you’re finished rinsing, remove the excess water from the leggings by pressing them firmly against the edge of the sink. Never wring or twist the leggings like a towel as that will stretch out and damage the fabric.

Once the excess moisture is out, hang them dry away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry; the heat will damage the item even on the low setting.

Tip: You can also use clean towels to remove excess water from the leggings. Place one on the bottom of the item and another one on top and press down firmly.

Care Tips to Make Your NVGTN Leggings Last Longer

  • White vinegar, aka acetic acid, is a great alternative to bleach and can be used to remove odors. Add a few tablespoons of vinegar to a tub of water and leave the items to soak overnight
  • Don’t add too much detergent when you’re washing your leggings. Not only will it leave behind irritating residue but it can also trap odor-causing grime
  • Make a habit of washing your activewear as soon as you get home from the gym. If you must wait, place them on a drying rack or hang them- that’ll prevent odor-cause residue from forming
  • Baking soda is a natural deodorizer and can be used to get rid of smells. Simply add one cup to the load (along with the detergent)

Best Laundry Detergent for NVGTN Leggings and Activewear

ACTIVE Detergent is different from conventional detergents in that it’s formulated with synthetic fibers such as nylon, spandex, and polyester in mind. Put simply, it contains three types of plant-based enzymes, which target and break down stains and dirt on fabric.

It’s also an excellent choice for those with sensitive skin as it doesn’t contain any fragrances or chemicals.

You also get your money’s worth as one pack comes with enough powder for up to 90 loads. Given all that, it’s best to give it a try!
