ACTIVE Washing Machine Cleaner should be used by itself in an empty washer. Do not add clothing or other cleaning products.
Remove the wrapper and place the tablet into the washer drum. Do not put the tablet into the detergent dispenser tray.
We recommend using hot water on “normal” mode to fully clean the machine. If your machine has an option for load size, choose “large” or the highest available setting.
For washers with a “clean washer” setting, use that mode.
For front load washers, some of the grime may accumulate in the door seal. Wipe it off after the clean cycle is finished.
Leave washer door open to air it out.

Just tried this product for the first time. Our washer had a funny smell and had standing water in the bleach dispenser. I googled it and people said a hose was probably clogged with sediment. I’m used to purchasing Affresh washing machine tablets, I believe it’s five tablets for like 13 dollars… we’ll unfortunately I was out and stumbled upon this deal. You get a whole years worth for the same amount of money, and it works just as well as the Affresh! I put one tablet in the drum and selected quick wash with hot water setting, 30 mins later I opened the door and the drum was sparking clean! Not to mention it eliminated the funky smells too. If left unattended during regular cleaning routines, these hidden spots may become hotspots for residues and odors.
Cleaning front-load washers tends to be more intricate due to the way they’re built.
One area that’s particularly susceptible to residue is the rubber gasket surrounding the door as it comes into contact with moisture from wet laundry loads.

Start by taking everything out of the washing machine.
It’s also important to use the right setting. Ideally, you want to use a hot water cycle as it’s highly effective at breaking down stubborn build-ups of soap scum and hard water deposits.
Some machines also have a “Clean Washer” mode, which goes through a cycle specifically for sanitizing the washing machine.

While ACTIVE will reach the most important areas of grime buildup, other areas require special attention, which we will go over below.
The bleach dispenser often harbors leftover liquid, which can turn into grime over time. To clean this area effectively, use warm water and white vinegar.
Wipe it gently using a damp cloth until all visible debris are gone.
And don’t forget those tricky crevices around the drawer compartment. For that, you can use white vinegar and hot water – just mix the two and scrub the area with either a toothbrush or cotton swab.
Depending on the washer that you have, you may be able to remove the bleach and detergent dispenser tray from the machine itself.
In that case, we recommend washing it in the sink using a soft brush and some dish soap. Just be sure to wash off all soap residue and let the dispenser fully dry before reinstalling it in your washing machine.
The fabric softener compartments tend to accumulate sticky soap scum if left unchecked. A toothbrush dipped in white vinegar solution works wonders on these areas.
Just make sure not to scrub too hard as exerting too much force can damage the compartment itself.
Afterward, rinse the compartment with warm water, then wipe dry with a microfiber cloth – that will help prevent potential contaminants due to moisture retention.
Your washer’s seal prevents leaks during wash cycles but also creates the ideal conditions for residue to accumulate due to their consistently moist environment. Checking and wiping these seals regularly after cleaning with ACTIVE will prevent residue and odors from developing.

I ignored the washing machine until it started to smell unpleasant. Cleaning it seemed contardictory, especially since we use non-fragrant detergent, so our clothes never truly smelled fresh. I saw an ad for a cleaner and thought, “What’s the harm?” My expectations were low, but to my delight, it worked well without an overpowering scent. I chose the dedicated cleaning cycle. If your machine is as dirty as mine, prepare for startling initial results. It dislodged grime but didn’t completely remove it. A tip: run a rinse cycle before checking after the first use. It does its job! Laundry comes out smelling fresh again. A minor downside is some residue around the door seal remains, likely due to insufficient water flow during cleaning. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter since both the tub and clothes smell clean.

I was eager to try these tablets on my old Maytag top load washer, which is about 20 years old and likely hasn’t been cleaned properly. Over the last five years, I’ve used vinegar, Lysol washer cleaner, and other remedies with little effect. My washer looks mostly clean, except for some buildup on the agitator, so I expected to see murky water after using the tablets. I ran one tablet on the hottest setting and let it soak, but the water stayed clear and the agitator looked unchanged. I tried another tablet, but again, the agitator showed no improvement and the water remained clear. I’m not convinced these did much of anything.

I had been wanting to clean my washer for a while, so when I found this product, I thought it was finally time. I followed the simple instructions and opened the lid at the end of the cycle, hoping for a sparkling tub. Instead, I was disappointed to see soap build-up on the agitator. I realized I should have done this sooner. Rereading the package, I noticed it suggested pre-wetting and scrubbing for tough build-up. After scrubbing, I tried again, but the build-up remained. Despite my hopes for a glowing review, it just didn’t work for me. However, I appreciated the thoughtful Thank You card included in the package, which made it difficult to write a negative review.

A repairman informed me that my issue was due to the lack of a lint filter in my washing machine and recommended “Active” Washing Machine Cleaner.
