They even have their own line of footwear! Their goal is to provide customers with affordable, fashion-forward products.

For those who prefer online shopping, they also have an official website, through which you’re able to place orders. If anything, their popularity has only risen over the past few years. In 2018, they were the number one most-searched fashion brand on Google. Surely, that must say something about their products!

Price-wise, their products are very reasonable. If anything, that’s one of the reasons why they’re so popular! For those who are curious, you can get an activewear top for under $20 and a pair of leggings for $25. Catch them during a sale and you’ll be able to grab them for even cheaper! Here’s a tip from us—you’ll get 20% your order if you sign up for their mail list! Don’t forget to check out their “sales” and “clearance” sections as well—you might just be able to land a good deal!

Taking Care of Fashion Nova Activewear

Their activewear is relatively durable, especially for the price. That’s not to say that they won’t wear out over time, though—they eventually will, as with all clothes. However, you won’t have to worry about it piling or fraying after just a few wears.

Want your Fashion Nova clothes to last? If so, you want to pay attention to how you wash them. You might have heard this before but you can easily ruin your garments by washing them the wrong way. Do it properly, however, and they’ll last you a long time!

Ideally, you want to wash your activewear right away when you get home—especially if you’ve been working out. Why? Chances are, the sweat from your skin would have gone on the fabric. Leave it alone for long enough and it will eventually start to smell. You don’t want that, do you?

But wait, what’s the best way to wash Fashion Nova sportswear? Need some tips? We’ll be going over the various steps below. Before that, however, let’s take a quick look at the kinds of fabric that they use for their clothes!

Fabrics Used by Fashion Nova

Does it surprise you that most of their activewear is made from synthetic fibers?

Polyester

Polyester is a common textile that’s used for activewear. There are many reasons for this—for one thing, it is super durable. Made out of recycled plastic, it is also cheap and affordable. Not only is it lightweight, but it’s wrinkle resistant, abrasion resistant and dries quickly. On top of all that, it has a moisture-wicking finish—that is, the fabric is capable of lifting sweat from the skin to the surface, where it can freely evaporate.

Spandex

Spandex is known for its elasticity—it can easily be stretched five times its length without breaking! More durable than rubber, it is often blended with other materials such as cotton or polyester for activewear and other clothes. A type of synthetic fiber, it is also referred to as elastane or Lycra.

Modal

Modal is a semi-synthetic material—it’s made by spinning cellulose from beech trees. A type of rayon fabric, it can be both knit or woven. Incredibly soft, it resists creasing and drapes well. Due to its silky qualities, it is often blended with fibers such as wool, spandex, or cotton. Not only is it shrink-resistant, but it tends to pill less as well. Aside from activewear, it’s also used for bed linens, towels, underwear, bathrobes, and shirts.

Nylon

Nylon is a silky fabric that’s made from synthetic polymers. It is exceptionally strong—even more so than polyester. Super resilient, the material is very easy to wash and dye. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that the fibers are heat-sensitive.

How to Wash Fashion Nova Leggings/Yoga Pants/Tights

Fashion Nova offers a variety of leggings, tights and yoga pants. Here’s how to wash them.

Are Fashion Nova Leggings Machine Washable?

The answer is yes—all of their leggings, tights, and yoga pants can be put in the washing machine. Before you do that, however, make sure that you’ve turned it inside out—washing them regularly will cause the colors to fade. Not to mention that it’ll be harder for the detergent to wash out the sweat and oils (it’s much easier if you expose the “dirty” layer to the outside). Another thing that you want to do is to put them in a laundry bag—this is especially true for leggings with mesh. Place the bottoms in a bag, secure the opening, and toss it into the washer.

Note: For those who are curious, yes, you can wash Fashion Nova leggings with other clothes—that is, as long as you separate the loads by color.

Measure out one scoop of ACTIVE detergent and add it to the washing machine. Choose a delicate wash cycle and press the start button. Make sure that you use cold water—hot water is not the best for the leggings. Do not add any fabric conditioners. If necessary, soften the leggings with white vinegar. Avoid using bleach.

Take the Fashion Nova leggings out once the machine is finished washing. Line them dry on a clothesline—one of the great things about synthetic fabrics is that they dry quickly! Skip the dryer—the high heat is not good for the fibers.

Washing Fashion Nova Leggings by Hand

You don’t always have to use the machine—you can wash them by hand as well. The first thing that you want to do is to fill a basin or sink with water. From there, mix in a scoop of ACTIVE detergent. Once the powder is dissolved, put your Fashion Nova leggings and tights in—make sure that all of the fabric is submerged in the solution. Let it soak for 15 to 30 minutes.

Rub the fabric together gently a few times with your hands. When you’re done, rinse it clean under the faucet—you want to get rid of all the detergent, otherwise, it can irritate your skin. Place the leggings on a clean surface, blot off some of the extra moisture with a towel, and hang on a clothesline to dry. As mentioned earlier, you do not want to use the dryer. They’ll dry quickly on their own anyway.

Removing Stains From Fashion Nova Leggings

Leggings can easily get stained if you wear them regularly. Here’s how to get rid of trouble spots.

Measure one scoop of ACTIVE detergent and add it to a small bowl. Dissolve it in warm water to get a soapy mixture. From there, you want to locate the stain on your pants. Dampen a clean cloth with the solution and use it to wet the spot—you want to make sure that it’s thoroughly saturated, otherwise, it won’t be as effective. Wait for 20 to 30 minutes; that will give the detergent ample time to lift the stain.

Check the spot once the time is up. Is the stain still there? If so, you might want to repeat the steps again with ACTIVE detergent. If it’s no longer visible, you can wash the leggings as normal.

Note: All of the above washing methods can be used for their shorts and tops (tanks, shirts, long sleeves) as well.

Washing Instructions for Fashion Nova Sports Bras

Sports bras tend to come into contact with a considerable amount of sweat—this is not surprising considering how close-fitting they are! Ideally, you want to put them in the wash after a good workout.

How to Machine Wash Fashion Nova Sports Bras

You’ll be happy to know that their sports bras are machine washable. You don’t want to just throw it in, however. Why? All of the tossing around can damage the elastic. What you want to do instead, is to put them in a lingerie bag—that will extend their lifespan significantly. You can wash the sports bras with other items as long as you separate coarser garments (e.g. jackets, denim). You can also wash them by themselves—in that case, it’s a good idea to put in a couple of towels.

Pour in one scoop of ACTIVE detergent and start the machine on a delicate cycle. Use cold water—hot water can damage the sports bras over time. As with the leggings, you want to skip on the fabric softener and bleach. White vinegar is a good alternative if you want to soften up the bras.

Take the sports bras out once the washing is complete. Put them on a clothesline or drying rack and allow them to air dry. Never tumble dry—that’s an easy way to ruin the elastic!

How to Wash Fashion Nova Sports Bras by Hand

While you can put them in the washing machine, it’s probably better to wash them by hand if you want them to last. After all, hand washing is the gentlest method. As it turns out, it’s not too difficult either.

Start by filling a basin or sink with water. Add one scoop of ACTIVE detergent and dissolve by the powder by agitating the liquid. Place your Fashion Nova sports bras in once you see bubbles. Check that all of the fabric is immersed in the solution before letting it soak for 15 to 20 minutes.

Gently rub the material between your fingers to clean. Afterward, put the sports bras under the faucet to rinse off the detergent—continue until the water is clear with no suds. Avoid twisting or wringing the item as that can easily damage the elastic. Line the item dry on a clothesline. Pass on the dryer.

Best Laundry Detergent for Fashion Nova Activewear Clothing

active detergent for activewear 1

What type of detergent should you use for Fashion Nova activewear? Why, one that’s specifically formulated for activewear of course! ACTIVE detergent fits the bill perfectly. Unlike “regular” detergents, the product is meant for washing synthetic fabrics—yes, the same ones used in these kinds of clothes! More specifically, they contain enzymes that are capable of physically dissolving the gunk that’s embedded in the fibers.

What’s more, is that it is all-natural. In other words, it is not a cocktail of chemicals—everything is plant-based. This makes it a fabulous choice for those with sensitive skin. Don’t forget, it’s also better for the environment too!
