Coffee Machine Descaler Instructions
Add Descaler Solution To The Water Reservoir
Single-Serve Machines
Pour 4oz of ACTIVE Coffee Machine Descaler into the water reservoir then add clean water to reach the maximum fill line.
Multi-Cup Machines
Pour 4oz of ACTIVE Coffee Machine Descaler into the water reservoir then add clean water to reach the maximum fill line.
Run The Machine
Single-Serve Machines
Run two brewing cycles on the largest cup size setting. Dispose of dirty water between cycles.
Multi-Cup Machines
Run one large brewing cycle into the pot.
Refill Reservoir With Clean Water
Be sure to rinse out the reservoir before running these cycles.
Single-Serve Machines
Empty any remaining water from the reservoir. Refill the reservoir to the maximum fill line with clean water.
**Rinse out the reservoir as much as possible to avoid aftertaste from the cleaner.
Multi-Cup Machines
Dispose of the water from the pot. Refill the reservoir to the maximum fill line with clean water.
**Rinse out any removable parts as best as possible to avoid aftertaste from the cleaner
Run The Machine Again
Do not add coffee to the machine yet.
Single-Serve Machines
Run two more brewing cycles on the largest cup size. Dispose of dirty water after each cycle.
Multi-Cup Machines
Run one more large brewing cycle into the pot. Dispose of dirty water after the cycle.

Single-Serve Machines
Empty remaining water from the reservoir and refill to the maximum fill line with clean water.
You can now brew a cup of coffee.
**If you notice any aftertaste remaining from the cleaner, then rinse out the reservoir again thoroughly and run another cycle with clean water, no coffee.
Multi-Cup Machines
Refill the water reservoir with clean water.
You can now brew a pot of coffee.
**If you notice any aftertaste remaining from the cleaner, then run another cycle with clean water, no coffee.
Usage Tips
- Be sure to thoroughly rinse the water reservoir and any other removable parts.
- If you notice any aftertaste remaining from the cleaner, then run another 1-2 brewing cycles using only water, no coffee.
- For most average coffee machines, we recommend descaling with ACTIVE Coffee Machine Descaler twice per month.
- Heavily used machines may require more frequent descaling.
- Extremely dirty machines may need an immediate second cleaning to fully descale the machine.

For the average coffee drinker, we recommend descaling the machine twice per month. Commercial brewers or other heavily-used machines may require more frequent cleanings.
The instructions slightly vary between single-serve and multi-cup machines.
For single-serve machines (like a Keurig):
- Add 4oz of descaler liquid to the water reservoir, then fill to the max line with water. Run two brewing cycles on the large cup size and dispose of the dirty water.
- Dispose any remaining liquid from the water reservoir and refill it with clean water. Run two more brew cycles on the large cup and dispose of the dirty water.
- Refill the water reservoir again. Your machine is now clean and ready to brew coffee.
For multi-cup machines (traditional coffee makers with a pot):
- Add 4oz of ACTIVE descaler in the water reservoir and fill with water to reach the maximum fill line. Run one large brew cycle into the pot and dispose of the dirty water.
- Refill the water reservoir to the max fill line and run one more large brewing cycle into the pot. Dispose of the dirty water from the pot.
- Fill the water reservoir with more clean water. Your machine is clean and ready to brew fresh-tasting coffee.

We recommend descaling your coffee machine twice per month so a single bottle will last you up to 4 months of cleanings.
